Those commiserating with you use TTB to mean "that's too bad." You're most likely to receive TTB after you've shared a sob story with a friend, parent, or co-worker.
For example, if you tell a friend that you have to work tonight, and thus can't make the concert you were both planning to attend, they may respond with "TTB, I guess I'll go alone." Or, if you tell your parents about how you missed out on a promotion at work, they may respond with "TTB, but I'm sure you'll get it soon!"
