TDM

What does TDM stand for in gaming?

Team deathmatch

Those who play first-person shooters (FPSes) use TDM as shorthand for "team deathmatch." Team deathmatches are multiplayer matches in which players:

  • Are split into two or more teams
  • Win by killing players on the other team(s)

Typically, TDMs feature two teams of four or more players facing off against each other. Either the last team standing (in single-life matches) or the team that kills the other team's players the most number of times (in infinite-spawn matches) wins.

Some popular games that feature TDM modes include Call of Duty, Apex Legends, Halo, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Most TDM games take place online, though some take place via local or LAN-based multiplayer modes.
