Fans of Disney's discontinued Club Penguin game may refer to it as CP. This kid-friendly massively multiplayer online (MMO) game was active from 2005 to 2017.
In Club Penguin, players navigated an antarctic-esque world in the guise of cartoon penguins. Notably, the game included features designed to prevent children from encountering mature or offensive content. For example, the game included an Ultimate Safe Chat mode that forced users to chat using only pre-written messages.
After Disney shut down CP in 2017, fans created and hosted copies of the game on their own servers. Most of these copies disappeared in May 2020, when Disney filed a Digital Millennium Copyright Act takedown notice to Club Penguin Online, an especially unsavory CP clone.
