BO

BO has 3 meanings
1. What does BO stand for?

Body odor

People typically use BO when calling attention to someone's stinky body odor. For example, your friend Mike might text you "Sorry about my BO at lunch today; I came straight from the gym," to apologize for how unpleasant he smelled earlier. (It's too late to apologize now, Mike! We already had to smell you!)

BO is a fairly common acronym (and occurrence), so you may encounter it in text messages, on forums, and even on social media, when people are discussing body odor. Many of these discussions revolve around the "correct" way to tell someone who noticeably stinks about their bad BO.

Example

That guy has some serious BO! I can smell him from across the room
An MTG player describing their experience with an opponent's BO

2. What does BO stand for in online gaming?

Build order

Gamers use BO as shorthand for "build order." You're most likely to see this acronym used in discussions of real-time strategy (RTS) and multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games, to describe the order in which players should craft units and items.

For example, many StarCraft 2 strategies (such as skytoss and FFE) have specified build orders that players typically follow in the early, mid, and late game. Sticking to these build orders allows players to execute the strategies as intended.

However, if an opponent counters the strategy you're using, you may have to stray from that strategy's specified BO, to counter their counter. Otherwise, you'll end up SOL.

Example

What's your typical BO for Twisted Fate?
Well, I always start by grabbing a Corrupting Potion and a Stealth Ward

3. What does BO stand for?

Back off

If you want someone to leave you alone, send them "BO," which stands for "back off." Of course, you could also send them the other BO (body odor), and they would back off quickly.

Most people use BO online when messaging and in texts when they need a person to give them space, whether literally or figuratively. For example, if your friend makes fun of someone's haircut, they might send them, "BO, at least I don't live with my mom!"

Example

Hey, BO - that is none of your business anyway
Sorry, man. Just a joke
