Around The Horn

What does around the horn mean?

Double play from third to second to first base

A baseball term that refers to a double play that goes from the third base to second base to first base.

The play would most likely happen when a grounder is hit to the third baseman who fields it, throws it to the second baseman touching second base, who then relays the throw to the first baseman touching first base. The double play is counted because of the force out at second and first base. The term can also refer to the TV sports talk show on ESPN.

Grounder to third, around the horn for the double play, and that'll end the fifth inning
